Teaching the Gospel Through Family Home Evening
HIGHLIGHTS

Adapting Lessons for Children


  • begin and end with a PRAYER
    • invites spirit, teaches children to pray
  • learn from the scriptures and modern prophets
  • SING - invites spirit, teaches gospel principles
  • Be Consistent!!! - the church sets aside Monday but do whatever works for your family
  • Add Variety - sit down lessons, activities, service, nature, etc
  • Short, Sweet, and Hands On
  • Use the Sharing Time manual for lesson ideas
  • Keep kids contained - try sitting in laundry baskets or on their own rugs
  • Pinterest! - lots of good ideas

 

Adapting Lessons for Teens

  • Everyone needs a job!
    • Use a job chart and give out assignments at the end for the following week.
    • Add more to fit the size of your family.
    • Job Ideas: Conducting, Opening Prayer, Scripture, Lesson, Lesson Helper, Games, Closing Prayer, Treats
  • Song - everyone has to sing at least one word.
  • Have a lesson folder available for them if they forget and need a lesson last minute.
  • Always start with a prayer and song.
  • Ideas
    • movie night, game night, rake leaves
  • NO ELECTRONICS at FHE
    • Have a "phone basket" where all phones go until the end

What you'll need:
Download and print all lesson materials from links above.
Cut out Lesson Label and glue to the front of the manila envelope.
Cut out story figures (keep the team together) and laminate.
Staple together "Lesson Outline."
Staple together "110 Things to do on the Sabbath."
Put into the manila envelope.
Have FHE!
